Gown Styles

Congratulations! You’ve said yes to the man of your dreams and now it is time to go with your girls and pick out the perfect gown! We thought we would give you an overview of the styles of gowns you can expect to find as you shop.

A-line: This gown is fitted through the bodice and falls away from the body. The A-line style is a very classic and elegant style of dress. It is flattering on many body types and is made of many fabrics.

Modified A-line: The modified A-line is very similar to its sister the A-line, it is fitted throughout the torso and then gracefully drifts away from the body.

Empire: Similar in skirt shape the empire gown has a seam that falls under the bust line. Smaller bust sizes look great in this style.

Sheath: The sheath dress is a body hugging design that does not flare or change in shape throughout the dress. It is typically made of silk or satin but many designs can also come in intricately beaded styles. It is ideal for slim or willowy body types.

Ballgown: A classic, the ballgown, is a draw to many brides interested in glamour and drama. The bodice is fitted and the floor-length skirt then flairs out at the waist in many layers creating the traditional princess ballgown look.

Mermaid: The mermaid gown is fitted from the bust through to the knee. After the knee the dress flairs to the floor. These gowns range in material from lace to tulle. This style fits slender frames as it helps to create a more feminine curvy figure. It is also a wonderful gown for those blessed with curves.

Trumpet: The trumpet is very similar in style to the mermaid, but is fitted from the bust down to mid thigh where it flares out. This gown looks especially good on women with smaller waists and is very sexy.

Two-Piece: A two-piece gown in a fun way to customize your look. Some gowns come complete as a two piece, whereas others can have a skirt be added for separate looks for the ceremony and the reception.

We love to help each bride find the perfect gown for their special day. A dress may surprise you on the rack once you put it on. Make sure to make an appointment today to find the gown.
